Lately, it has been announced that Ras Al Khaimah’s long awaited zip line which will be world’s longest so far, will officially open in the starting week of December.

While its exact length is still a secret as it won’t be revealed until its official launch, we expect that it will break the current world record held by ‘The Monster’ in Puerto Rico, which is 2,200 metres (2.2kms) long.

According to Haitham Mattar, CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, it will be “longer than 28 soccer fields”. If we take our attention towards the official soccer field according to FIFA, the minimum length of a soccer field is 100 metres. So, it should be at least 2,800 metres (2.8kms). He also said:

“This zipline will be like no other experience out there”

“Once harnessed to the zipline in a horizontal superhero position, participants will soar through the sky as if they’re a bird. It’s the closest you can get to the experience of flying.”

Toro Verde, who is the same zip line operator behind Puerto Rico’s extreme ride, has been appointed to construct and operate this new attraction, located on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak.

This zip line will be designed as eco-friendly as possible, using alternate resources like LED lighting and photovoltaic fabric materials that will generate clean (non-pollutant) energy.

According to Jorge Jorge, CEO of Toro Verde Ras Al Khaimah:

“Jebel Jais’ dramatic and beautiful landscape offers an iconic backdrop for what will be a bucket list experience for people all around the world.”

What can we expect?

As per the rumours and revelations, we are damn sure that the zip line will fly adrenaline junkies over the edge of a 1,823-metre height at Jebel Jais, before launching you at speeds of up to 130kmh.
