PlayStation 5 Price and Release Date

To this day, the PlayStation 2 has sold over 157 million units, making it the best selling video game machine in history.

Time has proved that gaming is becoming an expensive hobby with time. The reason is simple. Console makers like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo release a new lineup of consoles every few years or so, bringing forth another wave of more powerful and of course more expensive gaming machines.

Sony’s original PlayStation 4 has been ruling the gaming world for more than 4 years and still in demand. Last year in 2016 Sony gave few touchups and improvements to its existing console and released two new variants the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.

Now it’s the best time for a new generation of console to take the throne due to the growing demand for graphics and processing power.

Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) Release Date in Dubai, UAE

Sony’s PS4 and PS4 Pro games consoles have been a huge success and are currently selling well, with the company confirming that it has now reached over 70M units sold.

As of right now, the PS4 has cumulatively sold through more than 70.6M units to consumers worldwide, with more than 617.8M copies of PS4 games sold at retail stores globally and through digital downloads on PlayStation Store.

“We are delighted that so many people are enjoying the unique entertainment proposition of PlayStation 4 and that an emerging technology like PlayStation VR continues to gain traction,” – Andrew House, Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

“I cannot thank our fans and partners enough. Their support, since the launch of very first PlayStation in 1994, has helped to make PlayStation one of the biggest console gaming networks in the world. We will continue to work closely with partners to maintain this momentum and remain steadfast in making PS4 the best place to play.”

And based on growing information like this, many analysts believe that the PS5 release date will now not arrive until 2019/2020.

The PS4 Pro is a great way for Sony to extend the life of the current PlayStation generation so that they can focus more on next generation. Pretty much the same thing in case of Microsoft and its Xbox One X.

Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) Price in Dubai, UAE

Undoubtedly the million dollar question: What price tag will the PS5 carry in Dubai and other emirates in UAE?

The current base model of PS4 which comes with 500GB HDD starts at AED 1,199 and goes as high as AED 1,759 for the highest Pro model with 1TB HDD.

Considering the fact that every new upgrade or generation in consoles bring more horsepower with better CPU, GPU, Storage, Power consumption, Speed, and more so it should not cost less than a PS4 Pro model in ideal conditions.

With this fact in mind, we believe that PS5 will come with a price tag of AED 2,000 for the base model.

The reason behind such a shocking PS5 price tag?

As we mentioned above, Sony needs to make some changes to its current hardware configuration to meet with growing gaming standards like:

  • SSD (Solid State Drive) instead of traditional HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for fast response and boot time
  • More VRAM for extreme graphics load
  • More GPU cores for faster graphics processing
  • More CPU cores for overall processing speed
  • Better cooling system for temperature control
  • Upgraded and better DualShock controller or we can say DualShock 5
  • Revamped wireless and ethernet adapters for better internet connection
  • And of course and an improved build quality and design
