While borax is the typical choice to do so, an alternative is to use corn starch to make a deliciously nasty and not quite toxic slime that will look great on your children’s Halloween party for a school activity Or to entertain the kids on a rainy or dull day.

It will have a very sticky consistency, but then it will settle and look like rubber. If you want to add color, include some food coloring or eye shadow in the mix. Apply a lotion to give it a greater elasticity.

Method 2: How to make Cornstarch Slime ?

    • You can also pour the water into a microwave-safe container and heat it for 45 minutes.
  2. Pour 1 cup (250 ml) of warm water into a basin. Add 3 or 4 drops of green food coloring until the water turns a darker green color than the one you want for the slime. When you make it, the color will lighten a little. Mix intensely with a spoon.
  3. Measure 2 cups (300 g) starch, corn starch or cornstarch. Put them in a basin.
  4. Empty the dyed water in the basin containing the corn starch. Pour the colored water slowly. Use your fingers to mix the ingredients. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until they form a dense paste.
  5. Controls the consistency of the slime. If it is very liquid, you can add starch; If it is too dense, you can add more warm water. It all depends on your preferences.

    • Continue regulating the mixture until you get the slime of the consistency you want. Your fingers are supposed to enter the mix easily. When you slide your fingers on the surface, you should feel dry.
  6. Add optional items to make it more fun.You can put rubber worms, plastic insects or eye sockets, etc. It is excellent for a Halloween celebration, a science fair, a party or an environmental or nature camp.
  7. Put the slime in a plastic bag and close it to preserve it.

  2. Add a few drops of food coloring until the water and the fiber mixture are the color you want. This will be the color of your slime. It will not be decreased later. Stir thoroughly.
  3. Put the mixture in the microwave container inside the microwave oven. Warm it up for five minutes. Check the mixture periodically to make sure it does not boil so it will not overflow.
  4. Allow the mixture to stand for 2 to 4 minutes, after which time the mixture will be relatively fresh.
  5. Repeat the process of heating and cooling 2 to 6 times. The more you repeat this process, the thicker the mixture will be.
  6. Let the slime cool in the microwave. Let it set for approximately 10 minutes. Be careful not to handle it before it is completely cold as it will be very hot.
    • You can place the slime in a tray or a cutting board to cool it.

Useful Tips

  • Doing slime can be a dirty activity. Put on old clothes and remember to cover surfaces that can be damaged if they are splashed or stained with the slime.
  • Do not let it fall on the clothes, because it can stain.
  • As an alternative to food coloring, you can temper the starch before pouring water.

Warnings

  • Although the basic slime of corn starch and fiber slurry are made without borax, it supervises and prevents children from tasting or eating it because it is not edible. For children it can be a choking hazard and suffocation. However, if a child eats and does not drown, the slime will pass by without consequences (does not apply to edible slime).

Things You’ll Need

  • sauceboat
  • Bowl or cuezo
  • spoon
  • Large microwave-safe container
  • microwave oven

How to Make Green Slime ?

Kids love limo! It’s fun, sticky, slimy and it messes a lot. The following instructions are for making green slime, the most common and preferred color.

Steps and procedure:

  1. Prepare a “standard solution” using flour. Add the borax to a 1-liter (1-quart) flask filled with water until the borax does not dissolve further.
  2. Mix water and glue until a cohesive and watery solution is achieved.
  3. Add green food coloring to the water mixture and glue. Or you can add the colorant in small pieces or slices of slime while incorporating the solution of glue to the borax solution.
  4. Stir the borax solution into the watery glue and observe how the silt is taking shape.
  5. Finished.

Useful Tips

  • The recipe can be changed by varying the percentage of ingredients used. For example, if two parts of borax solution are used, the slime that forms is “harder” and not so viscous.
  • School glue is suitable for this recipe. It is generally known as “poly” (polyvinyl acetate).
  • The “limo” is best enjoyed on the day of its creation. The silt will collect foam, dust and particles that will make it a nuisance to keep for longer. However, if you want to store it, tag it to avoid any confusion and store it in a cool place, such as the refrigerator or freezer (see “Warnings”).

Warnings

  • Borax is poisonous if swallowed. Do not eat it and do not let the children do it. Please follow the instructions responsibly.
  • The glue should not be eaten or inhaled.

Things You’ll Need

  • Glue (the school is better)
  • Water
  • Borax solution
  • Green food coloring (or any other color you want)
  • A bag, preferably plastic and transparent.
